The recent earthquake of 5.9 on the Ritcher Scale that hit Ranau saw the involvement of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in Civil Support.  The MAF supported the SAR operation in the badly hit Mount Kinabalu where climbers were trapped at the peak.

The MAF deployed its assets including the EC725, Medical Team as well as its ground troops (Army) to assist the rescue agencies.  The Malaysian Army together and other rescue agencies, with the aid of the local mountain guides, roughed through the challenging terrain up Mount Kinabalu to reach the victims.
